ILHAC Grant Programs

State appropriated monies are made available through the Iowa Livestock Health Advisory Council to support research relating to livestock health. The Council establishes priorities for this research. Up to $25,000 is currently available each year to support each project. These funds support new and continuation (for a second year) research projects funded on the basis of proposals submitted by CVM faculty.

Summer Scholar Program Events

Orientation

Welcome, introductions, expectations, survey series, schedule review, Journal Club groups, lab etiquette, registration forms and payroll.

Comments from Dean Nolan and Associate Dean for Research, followed by lunch.

Required Activities

Seminars include:

  • Experimental Design
  • Animal Use and Care
  • Bioethics/scientific Integrity
  • Statistics
  • Poster preparation

Research Day

Scholars, Mentors, and Mentor abstracts

Participating faculty mentors submit proposal abstracts in January each year for potential summer scholar projects.
