Dr. Rodney “Butch” Baker, Ames, Iowa, was installed as the 40th president of the American Association of Swine Veterinarians during the association’s annual meeting in Dallas, Texas, March 10. Dr. Baker is a senior clinician in the Food Supply Veterinary Medicine Unit at Iowa State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Phil Gauger, Ames, Iowa, was named the 2009 recipient of the American Association of Swine Veterinarians Foundation Hogg Scholarship. The scholarship was presented during the association’s annual meeting in Dallas, Texas.
Dr. Michael J. Wannemuehler has been named Chair of the Department of Veterinary Microbiology and Preventive Medicine effective March 4, 2009. He has been serving as interim chair and professor since April, 2008 when Dr. Lisa Nolan became Associate Dean for Academic and Student Affairs.
