Important Message about Phone Systems at the VDL and Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center

Many of you may be aware that we have been experiencing intermittent technical difficulties with the phone system at Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine, specifically at the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory and the Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center.

The university’s telecommunication system transitioned to a new service provider and communication platform that delivers voice messaging communications over the internet. While the new system has worked well for single-line users, this system has not been able to consistently meet the operational demands of the higher-volume call-centers at the college, such as the diagnostic lab and hospital.

We are continuing to work with the telecommunication system engineers and network service providers to resolve the problems. We wanted to share some of the background and to assure you that we recognize the significance of these intermittent problems with the new phone system. We ask that you please share any unique problems that you may have when attempting to contact us by phone in the weeks ahead.
