Iowa State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine and the Iowa Pork Producers Association are conducting a Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS) control project in Iowa County.
Since September one third of the projected sites have been enrolled. These sites are undergoing diagnostic protocols to determine initial PRRS status. An informational meeting to report these results and to discuss further implementation efforts is scheduled for Monday December 13, 2010 at 7:00 PM. This meeting will be held at the Farm Bureau building located at 212 W State St., Williamsburg, Iowa.
Producers who participate in the proposed project will receive valuable personalized assistance with PRRS control techniques and be offered a site biosecurity risk assessment tool. Five veterinarians from three local practices have agreed to assist Iowa County producers with the project.
All Iowa County pork producers are encouraged to attend this important discussion meeting.
