Media Advisory - Veterinary Students to Make Special Delivery at Mercy Children's Hospital and Clinics on Dec. 20

Iowa State University veterinary students will make a special delivery to children at Mercy Children’s Hospital & Clinics in Des Moines. The media is invited to attend as students deliver “Josh” kits to children at Mercy Children’s Hospital  & Clinics on Friday, Dec. 20, at 2 p.m. 

Iowa State veterinary students raise money to purchase the kits, which include a stuffed toy dog and a book. This is the first year that the veterinary students have delivered kits to Mercy Children’s Hospital & Clinics. 

Joining the students will be Dr. Bill Williams, representing the Iowa Veterinary Medical Association (IVMA). The IVMA, through Dr. Williams’ efforts, raises funds for the project.

Photo opportunities and brief interviews will be available.

Each kit contains a cuddly plush golden retriever puppy named Josh and a book about Josh’s surgery. The kits are purchased by veterinary students across the country and given to children at hospitals to comfort them during their hospital stay.
