Katie first studied abroad in Spain in 1999 with a small group from her southwest Iowa high school.  Since then, she has lived in Italy, studied leadership in London and business in China, and has traveled independently throughout Western Europe.  She joined the College in March of 2008 and to date has represented Iowa State in Australia, Canada, China, Costa Rica, Ecuador, France, Guatemala, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Jordan, Mexico, Norway, the Philippines, Serbia, and Uganda.

Katie holds a B.A. in philosophy and an M.B.A. with a specialization in International Business, both from Iowa State.  She is currently pursuing a PhD in Higher Education, also from Iowa State.

Katie has worked to increase vet med participation in study abroad from 10 students in 2008 to 212 students from 2011-2013.  Her goal is that at least 50% of all ISU veterinary students study abroad at some point during vet school.

If you are a faculty member who has an interest in taking a group of students abroad, or are a student who plans to go abroad during vet school, please contact Katie at katied@iastate.edu or (515)294-1501.
