Biomedical Informatics Research Group
The Biomedical Informatics Research Group (BIRG) is a multi-disciplinary group of researchers who have expertise in veterinary clinical pathology, veterinary informatics, instructional design, development and evaluation, computer science, and interface design. BIRG members are dedicated to the improvement of medical education through scholarly research and software development. The Director of the BIRG is Dr. Holly Bender, a recognized expert in veterinary clinical pathology who has received 23 teaching awards in the past 22 years. Dr. Bender directs the development of the Diagnostic Pathfinder, a novel, award-winning, computer-based learning tool that helps veterinary students acquire diagnostic problem solving skills
