Grant support

Pathologists within the core strive to develop collaborative relationships with the potential to promote and support extramural grant submissions. Pathologists can specifically provide consultation and participate in preparation of grant application sections pertaining to animal use and data collection/interpretation.

Facilities

The Histology Laboratory in the Department of Veterinary Pathology is fully equipped and staffed for frozen and formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded processing, sectioning, and staining for routine histology and immunohistochemistry staining. Special imaging available and assays can be readily developed including immunohistochemistry, laser capture microdissection, confocal and hyperspectral microscopy. The clinical pathology laboratory is a full service laboratory specializing in biochemical, hematology, urinalysis, coagulation, and specialized diagnostic testing and is equipped to provide results for a variety of domestic and laboratory species. It is staffed by 5 certified medical technologists. Pathologists have optical equipment needed for photomicroscopy with light and fluorescent microscopy.
