Biography

Dr. Snider received his DVM degree from the University of Missouri in 2006.  He served as a dairy Veterinarian in Tulare, CA for five years.  In 2010, Dr. Snider opened an ELISA laboratory in Visalia, CA to answer some of the changing needs of the industry.  It was the first of its kind in California – offering same day results for blood or serum sample pregnancy testing.  The lab also provided individual mastitis culture, BVD PI identification ELISA, and Johne's ELISA.  The laboratory continues operation despite Dr. Snider accepting his current position here as Veterinary Diagnostician.   His service role at the ISU Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (VDL) is primarily pathology case coordination.  The research component is conducted through allied industry supportive partnerships and collaboration between the VDL and the Animal Science Department.  Dr. Snider is currently pursuing additional graduate training in Nutritional Sciences and Toxicology.  When asked why he was interested in pathology and nutrition Dr. Snider stated, “The interface between nutrition and disease prevention has profound implications for animal health and well-being, as well as the industry at large.”
