 Dr. Hedlund

Cheryl Hedlund DVM, MS, Diplomate ACVS

Professor

 

Dr. Hedlund has returned to Iowa State University, her alma mater, and joined the Small Animal Surgery Department. She is world renown and has written numerous books, book chapters, and manuscripts on small animal surgery. Her special clinical interests in upper respiratory tract surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, surgical oncology, wound management and reconstruction.

 

 

Louisa Ho-Eckart BVSc Hons MS

Assistant Professor

 

Dr. Ho-Eckart is our newest faculty member to join our Small Animal Surgery team.  Dr. Ho-Eckart has recently completed her Small Animal Surgery residency at Oregon State University where she also received her MS in Veterinary Science.   She is a 2004 graduate of the University of Sydney. Her interests include minimally invasive surgery and cardiovascular and thoracic surgery.

Tara Akers

 

Tara grew up in Ames and has lived here most of her life. She received a AAS degree in Veterinary Technology from Des Moines Area Community College in Ankeny, IA in 2006. After graduation, she worked in a small animal practice and became the head technician. She worked there for almost 5 years prior to joining the ISU LVMC. She enjoys doing yard work, being outdoors, reading, and spending time with her daughters.

 

Amy Dennis

 

Amy grew up in Granger, Iowa, she graduated from Iowa State University in 2006 with a BA in Advertising and a minor in Spanish. After working in Kansas City for a few years, she left the marketing world and returned to school to pursue a much more fitting career as a Veterinary Technician, graduating from DMACC in 2012. Amy loves being outdoors and has a beloved shelter-rescued lab mix named Rylea.

 

 

Perry

Diane Perry

 

Diane Perry received certification as a veterinary technician from the University of Minnesota, Waseca in 1984.   She worked for 3 years in private practice in the Des Moines area before joining the surgery department at Iowa State University in 1987.  Diane currently enjoys working in the Sophomore and Junior teaching labs during the school year and assisting the surgery department during the summer months. When not working, Diane enjoys spending time with her family and 2 Brittanys, doing almost any kind of outdoor activity.
