Red-tailed hawks get their names from their red tails. Along with their red tails, these hawks will have a white breast and a barred belly.
Red-tailed Hawks build their nests high up in the trees or cliffs. The eggs are laid in March and April at an interval of one every other day. Their clutch usually consists of anywhere from 1 to 4 eggs.
The young leave the nest at 46 days of age.
