CVM Students Named SAVMA National Officers

Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine students recently attended the annual SAVMA (Student American Veterinary Medical Association) Symposium at North Carolina State University.

At the symposium, two Iowa State vet students were elected to national positions.

Third-year student McKenzie Weigel was elected SAVMA Officer of Communications and Public Relations while Cordell Vrbka, second-year student, will serve as SAVMA Secretary-elect.

Josie Peterson, a fourth-year student, completed her term as SAVMA Secretary at the same meeting.

The College of Veterinary Medicine was also represented at the SAVMA Symposium by the ISU SAVMA Chapter for Delegate meetings delegates Brooke Hurley, VM2, and Nick Prosek, VM1. The Nebraska SAVMA Chapter for Delegates were represented by Vrbka and Jacob Carbee, VM1.

ISU SAVMA President Neena Lynton, VM3, and President-elect Shannon Sklow, VM2, represented the ISU Chapter at President’s meetings.
