<\/strong>Annually the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory at Iowa State University completes more than 127,000 cases.<\/p>\n

But fiscal year 2025 was one for the record books.<\/p>\n

The faculty and staff at the VDL processed an all-time record of 130,104 cases and 1,732,676 tests in the recently completed fiscal year.<\/p>\n

Last year also saw the VDL staff achieve a single-day record as well in the almost 80-year history of the testing facility. On April 9, 2025, the VDL team processed a total of 973 case accessions containing of samples from 8,061 unique patient IDs.\u00a0All the testing was fully completed with results going out the same day.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a great example of simply exemplary teamwork and competence in executing the VDL\u2019s core mission of providing a best-in-class veterinary diagnostic service from beginning to end,\u201d said Dr. Rodger Main, VDL director.<\/p>\n

A national leader in protecting animal and human health, the full-service laboratories at the VDL is fully\u00a0accredited by the American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians. The VDL provides quality diagnostic services for animal species, including necropsy, bacteriology, serology, histopathology, virology, parasitology, molecular diagnostics, and toxicology as well as offering analytical services.<\/p>\n

Phase 1 of a new VDL was completed and opened in March 2024 with construction ongoing on Phase 2, which is scheduled to be completed in 2026.<\/p>\n
