March 23, 2026<\/p>\n

<\/strong>Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine students recently attended the annual SAVMA (Student American Veterinary Medical Association) Symposium at North Carolina State University.<\/p>\n

At the symposium, two Iowa State vet students were elected to national positions.<\/p>\n

Third-year student McKenzie Weigel<\/strong> was elected SAVMA Officer of Communications and Public Relations while Cordell Vrbka<\/strong>, second-year student, will serve as SAVMA Secretary-elect.<\/p>\n

Josie Peterson<\/strong>, a fourth-year student, completed her term as SAVMA Secretary at the same meeting.<\/p>\n

The College of Veterinary Medicine was also represented at the SAVMA Symposium by the ISU SAVMA Chapter for Delegate meetings delegates Brooke Hurley<\/strong>, VM2, and Nick Prosek<\/strong>, VM1. The Nebraska SAVMA Chapter for Delegates were represented by Vrbka and Jacob Carbee<\/strong>, VM1.<\/p>\n
