Eugene and Linda R. Lloyd Endowed Chair in Veterinary Medicine and professor of biomedical sciences in the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM), has been named the recipient of the 2026 Zoetis Award for Veterinary Research Excellence at CVM.<\/p>\n<p>An Iowa State faculty member since 2012, Thippeswamy has spearheaded transformative initiatives in translational neurotoxicology research, curriculum design and virtual learning technologies.<\/p>\n<p>His research focuses on the field of epilepsy, and he recently received a NIH U01 award, which is one of the most prestigious translational research funding grants in the United States. He has served as the principal investigator on six National Institutes of Health (NIH) grants on neurotoxicity totaling $6.92 million since 2017.<\/p>\n<p>In the classroom, Thippeswamy is an award-winning, student-centered professor of veterinary anatomy. He was selected for the Zoetis Distinguished Veterinary Teaching Award by students in the College of Veterinary Medicine in 2017. A year later he received the CVM Award for Outstanding Achievement in Teaching and has also received a Miller Teaching Fellowship from Iowa State University.<\/p>\n<p>He is a Fellow of the American Epilepsy Society.<\/p>\n<p>Thippeswamy earned his PhD in neuroscience from the University of Liverpool and received both a masters and bachelor\u2019s degree from the University of Agriculture Sciences in India.
