Dean's Message to the CVM Community

August 21, 2020

To CVM Faculty, Staff and Students:

The first week of classes are almost behind us and I am proud of what I have seen so far in the College of Veterinary Medicine hallways. Students, faculty and staff in the college are committed to making our facility a safe environment.

In order to succeed we all must continue to follow CDC and Iowa Department of Public Health guidelines to combat COVID-19 transmission. Remember face coverings are required in most situations and locations in the college and please be mindful of the physical distancing protocols which have been established. And by all means, if you are experiencing signs consistent with COVID-19, please stay home and get tested at Theilan Student Health Center.

But we need to take this a step further. In addition to wearing face coverings and maintaining appropriate physical distance in the college, all of us need to do the same while out in the Ames community. As members of a medical professional community, we must take a leadership role in combating COVID-19 transmission both on and off campus. It is our responsibility to make sure that the spread of COVID-19 is reduced as much as possible. Please be mindful of this as you spend time away from campus this weekend and throughout the fall semester.

Thank you for a wonderful first week! Stay safe and healthy.
