Brian C. Gilger, DVM, MS, Dipl. ACVO, Dipl. ABT
Dr. Brian Gilger received his veterinary degree from The Ohio State University. After an ophthalmology residency and master’s degree at Auburn University, Dr. Gilger returned to The Ohio State University. In October 1995, he joined the faculty at North Carolina State University where he is now a Professor and head of clinical ophthalmology. Dr. Gilger has been president of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists, a board member of the Ocular Toxicology Sub-specialty of the Society of Toxicology, and a member of the AAALAC Board of Trustees. He is Fellow of Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology. He is board certified in Veterinary Ophthalmology and Toxicology.
For over 20 years, Dr. Gilger’s laboratory and clinic has sought better ways to manage chronic ocular disease, with the most significant battle being overcoming lack or loss of treatment compliance. His lecture will review the lab’s journey in advances in ocular drug delivery and review new frontiers in cell and gene therapy primarily in the management of immune mediated ocular disease.
