Iowa State University's College of Veterinary Medicine offers scholarships to veterinary medicine students throughout the four-year program. Listed below are scholarships available to first year students. Please note: These scholarships and the amount of the scholarship may change annually.
William W. Bailey Scholarship
Established in 1997. Based on merit and demonstrated financial need. Given to an Iowa resident and two non-residents.
G.W. and Peg Cornwell Scholarship
Established in 1997 by G.W. and Phyllis "Peg" Cornwell. Based on demonstrated financial need. Awarded to Iowa residents.
William Tillman Dunn Scholarship in Veterinary Medicine
Established in 1995 as the result of the professional contributions made by Dr. Dunn as recognized by Mrs. Homozel Mickel Daniel through her estate. Based on exceptional academic capability, high moral character, exemplary interpersonal and written communication skills, leadership ability and the potential for making a positive impact in the profession after graduation.
IVMA Freshman Scholarship
Established in 2008 by the Iowa Veterinary Medical Association and is renewable for 3 additional years. The scholarship recognizes an outstanding student who might, without the scholarship, matriculate at another veterinary college.
Mildred M. Johnson and Ruth M. Stewart Memorial Scholarship
Established in 2004 by the estate of Ruth M. Stewart. Based on demonstrated financial need. This scholarship may be renewed providing the student remains in good standing.
Patricia A. Kasowski Scholarship for Veterinary Medicine
Established in 1997 by Marilyn D. Scholl. Based on merit and demonstrated financial need. This award is renewed annually providing the student remains in good standing.
Marie S. Lodge Endowment in Veterinary Medicine Scholarship
Established through a bequest from Marie S. Lodge through the Marie S. Lodge Trust to provide scholarships for students in the College of Veterinary Medicine.
Minard G. Mills Memorial Scholarship in Veterinary Medicine
Established in 1995 by the estate of Isabel M. Mills to aid a student who is pursuing a degree in the College of Veterinary Medicine.
Russell G. and Lora L. Talbot Scholars in Veterinary Medicine
Established in 1998 by Russell G. and Lora L. Talbot, this scholarship program provides four-year scholarships to seven students each year based on a proven record of scholastic achievement, with a minimum GPA of 2.8, and demonstrated financial need. The awards are open to graduates of Iowa high schools with first preference given to students who graduated from a high school in Wright County. The awards are renewable, provided minimum standards are maintained.
