Dr. Arthur Pittman (’41)
For 50 years, Arthur Pittman ran a veterinary practice in downtown Omaha. Now the first African American veterinarian in Omaha’s former clinic is being preserved as the historic building. “Dr. Pittman was a civic leader who served on many local and state boards and he was a real estate developer himself. He developed housing for people, so he really shaped the community in a lot of different ways,” said Jeff Randal, Burlington Capital. A new apartment complex is being built near Pittman’s old clinic and the new complex has been named The Arthur in Pittman’s honor.
