To the CVM Community:
I am very proud of how the faculty and staff of our entire CVM community has stepped up during the COVID-19 crisis. A great example of this is the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory working with the State Hygienic Laboratory to accelerate testing of COVID-19 samples.
And I’m excited to report that the VDL is about to embark on a new challenge by conducting antibody and COVID-19 tests in the College of Veterinary Medicine. The testing will be performed in rooms 1316 (sample processing and serology) and 1471/1471A for molecular diagnostics.
Because a nearby room is necessary for staging and sample receiving, the Exercise Room will be off-line in its current location for up to one year. The room assignments will be re-evaluated in six months to determine future needs.
In the meantime, I realize how important physical well-being is for our community and we are searching for a temporary location for the exercise room.
The testing being conducted by the VDL is essential for Iowa State University, the State of Iowa and the entire country to make our way back to normal operations. This is another example of how Cyclones step up and answer the call when most needed. I hope you will take time to help me thank your colleagues in the VDL for their hard work and dedication during these troubling times.
Thank you and stay healthy!
