Dr. Silvia Carnaccini Earns Bayer-Snoeyenbos New Investigator Award

VDPAM proudly congratulates Dr. Silvia Carnaccini, Assistant Professor in the Department of Veterinary Diagnostic and Production Animal Medicine, on receiving the prestigious Bayer-Snoeyenbos New Investigator Award from the American Association of Avian Pathologists (AAAP).

This national award recognizes early-career investigators who have made exceptional contributions to avian medicine and research. Dr. Carnaccini has distinguished herself through groundbreaking work in poultry virology, including advancing research on avian influenza, developing novel avian cell culture systems, and achieving the first successful isolation of Egg Drop Syndrome ’76 virus from U.S. field samples, a breakthrough with significant implications for the poultry industry.

Dr. Carnaccini’s expertise, scientific leadership, and commitment to advancing poultry health have earned her national recognition among colleagues, industry partners, and stakeholders. Her work continues to strengthen disease prevention, diagnostics, and vaccine development efforts that benefit poultry producers and animal health worldwide.
