DVM Students Participate in Summer Scholars Research Program
Four College of Veterinary Medicine students are participating in the annual CVM Summer Scholar Research Program within the Department of Veterinary Diagnostic and Production Animal Medicine.
The program introduces veterinary medicine students to research in a wide array of areas. Participants choose to investigate specific issues that match their interest and the work of an established researchers.
Scholars work with faculty mentors and other research personnel from May to August and through hands-on experiences, seminars and tours, the students gain valuable perspectives on the roles played by veterinarians in biomedical and public health research.
This year’s CVM Summer Scholars, their faculty mentors and research project include:
- Owen McInnes and Dr. Barbara Loureiro, “Obesity-Induced Alterations in Thermoregulation, Semen Quality, and Fertility in Beef Bulls”
- Natalie Seeman, Katherine Jensen and Carissa Gerwig & Dr. Pat Gorden, “Addressing Health Challenges in Dairy Goat Operations to Improve Antimicrobial Stewardship and Sustainability”
