Animal Welfare

Our program at the College of Veterinary Medicine supports veterinary students, practitioners, and clients in understanding and addressing emerging animal welfare issues. Animal welfare, which refers to an animal’s quality of life, is becoming a crucial aspect of veterinary medicine, animal care, and the ethics surrounding animal use. Measuring animal welfare necessitates multidisciplinary scientific methods that consider an animal’s mental, physical, and natural states. Effective decision-making regarding animal welfare involves integrating scientific knowledge with societal factors, including ethical, legal, economic, and cultural considerations. Our team is actively involved in research, education, and outreach initiatives aimed at improving animal husbandry and housing, assessing animal welfare, and training animal care personnel.
