Iowa’s beef industry is a significant economic driver, contributing approximately $5 billion annually and ranking in the top 10 nationally for beef cows, cattle on feed, and total cattle numbers. The VDPAM Beef Team supports Midwest producers and veterinarians with animal health and production issues through consultations and on-farm visits, collaborating with industry organizations, ISU Extension Service, and the Iowa Beef Center to provide timely and accurate information.

With expertise in toxicology, diagnostic pathology, epidemiology, and beef cattle production medicine, the team diagnoses health problems and designs cost-effective solutions. They also offer consultation on trial design and data analysis for field-based research.
