Food Animal Field Services
Position Overview: Starting in 2026, this postdoctoral role focuses on bovine medicine with responsibilities in clinical service, teaching veterinary students, and applied research.
Key Responsibilities: Includes developing training modules, delivering veterinary care, and participating in field investigations.
Program Benefits: One-year renewable position with opportunities to pursue ABVP board certification and/or a master’s degree (MS), while gaining hands-on experience in research and education.

Anatomical Pathologist
Program Overview: A 3-year residency beginning July 2026, focused on food animal pathology and infectious diseases, meeting ACVP board exam eligibility.
Training & Opportunities: Includes options for a concurrent master’s degree or post-residency PhD, with involvement in teaching and research.
Program Benefits: Residents work in a high-volume diagnostic lab (125,000+ cases/year), receive a competitive salary, and are supported with tuition and travel funding.

Theriogenology
Program Overview: Residency in veterinary theriogenology is designed to prepare candidates for board certification by the American College of Theriogenologists. The program focuses on comparative theriogenology and reproductive management across species.
Training & Opportunities: Includes emergency duty rotations across Food Animal, Small Animal, and Equine Theriogenology. Optional concurrent master’s or PhD programs are available to enhance research experience.
Program Benefits: Residents work primarily in the Iowa State University Teaching Hospital, with encouraged rotations in the Food Animal Field Services unit.
