Purpose of Study
The purpose of this study is to valuate the cerumen biomatrix difference between healthy dogs and those diagnosed with multicentric lymphoma using headspace gas chromatography-mass spectrometry.
Eligibility
Eligibility criteria are organized into two cohorts. Healthy dogs must have an unremarkable physical examination with no evidence of otitis and normal CBC, chemistry panel, and, when available, urinalysis. All screening diagnostics for healthy controls are covered by the study. Dogs with lymphoma must have a cytologic or histologic diagnosis of multicentric lymphoma and no evidence of ear infection on physical examination.
Once a dog is confirmed as a healthy control or as a treatment-naïve lymphoma case, sterile ear swabs will be collected for sample acquisition.
Exclusion
Exclusion criteria include any serious systemic illness, concurrent malignancies other than lymphoma, lymphoma subtypes that are not multicentric, and any prior treatment with prednisone, chemotherapy, or immunotherapies.
