New CVM Pet Promotion

August 30, 2011

Check out www.Cyclones.com the official web site of Iowa State University Athletics and you’ll see Cy’s Pets of the Week featured. That’s us!

The College of Veterinary Medicine, along with Iowa Veterinary Specialties and the Blank Park Zoo, are sponsoring a special football season campaign promoting the college, veterinary medicine and the animal-human bond.

Cy’s Pets of the Week gives Cyclone fans, including you, an opportunity to submit a photo of your pet (and you?) in Cyclone gear, and have it recognized as one of five Cy’s Pets of the Week on the big, new, 80-foot wide, high definition screen at Jack Trice Stadium during the six home football games.

You can enter your pet photo by clicking on the “Cy’s Pet” button on Cyclones.com. Entries are due at noon the Thursday before each home football game:

Game                           Entry Deadline
September 3 ISU- UNI September 1
September 10 – ISU – Iowa September 8
October 1 – ISU-Texas September 29
October 22 – Texas A & M October 20
November 5 – ISU – Kansas November 3
November 18 – ISU – Oklahoma State November 16

In addition to being displayed on the big board, one of the five Cy’s Pets of the Week for each home game will win a gift package from the Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center and Blank Park Zoo. All pet photos will be included in a Cy’s Pets Album accessible from Cyclones.com.

Make sure you dress up your pet in Cyclone gear and submit your photo. Being seen by 50,000 Cyclone football fans at each home game and the thousands of Cyclones.com browsers is a great way to have your pet and it’s Cyclone spirit recognized!

Be sure to listen to the Cyclone game radio broadcasts, too, and hear the “Vet Med Minute” during the pre-game show. The Cyclone Radio Network will carry a one minute message about the College of Veterinary Medicine, the profession, and Iowa’s veterinary practitioners during each of the 12 games. This new campaign will promote all three as we increase the visibility of the college and what we do here.

We’ll look forward to seeing your pet on “Cy’s Pets of the Week” and telling listeners about the CVM with the Vet Med Minute!
