NOTE: Class of 2030 dates and deadlines are below the class of 2031. Please scroll down to locate that information.
Class Entering Fall 2027 (Class of 2031)
The VMCAS application will open January 22, 2026 to give applicants more time to complete their application. Applicants will not be able to select specific veterinary schools until May 2026. Iowa State’s Veterinary Medicine supplemental application will be announced soon.

- VMCAS web application – School selection is available
Mid-May, 2026
May 16, 2026 or ASAP
- Contact or remind recommenders. Verify they are willing to provide a letter of reference for you.
August 1, 2026 (or earlier)
- Order transcripts from ALL post-secondary schools you have attended. This is needed even if the courses show on another school’s transcript, were taken in high school, or only one non-required course was taken.
August 15, 2026 (approximate)
- Check VMCAS for receipt of transcripts, recommendations. Follow up with transcript institution or recommender FIRST, then check with VMCAS if necessary. Give yourself time to correct problems BEFORE the deadline.
September 15, 2026, 11:59 pm Eastern Daylight Time (10:59 pm CDT)
- VMCAS application submitted
- At least 3 letters of evaluation submitted (Up to 6 will be accepted)
- Send all transcripts to VMCAS no later than September 15, 2026 – If you want your Summer 2026 grades to be considered in your academic evaluation, the transcript with grades must be received by VMCAS by September 15, 2026
- ISU Veterinary Medicine Supplemental Application (electronically submitted)
- ISU Signature page submitted electronically and fee paid online OR signature page and fee mailed and postmarked
October 1, 2026
- FAFSA – Tentative opening
December 31, 2026
- Summer/Fall 2026 transcripts due
- Official transcripts need to be sent directly to Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Please have electronic transcripts sent to cvm_transcripts@iastate.edu. When ordering electronic transcripts, you may need to put this email in the “third-party” option. Current Iowa State degree seeking students or alumni do not need to send transcripts. Our office will pull copies.
- Please DO NOT send your transcripts to Iowa State University as they will arrive at the main campus’s Admissions Office and can take several weeks to reach us. This may impact the status of your application.

- FAFSA must be received for incoming VM1 students if they wish to be considered for entering student scholarships that require need.
February 15, 2027
- Notification of final application status (admit, alternate, deny) will be sent on February 15, 2027 after 5:00 pm CST.
March 1, 2027
- Priority deadline for submitting FAFSA 2027-28 to be eligible for Health Professions Student Loan (HPSL). The HPSL loan requires parent information.
March 15, 2027
- Deadline for submission of Remain on Alternate List Form.
April 15, 2027
- Deadline to electronically accept offer of admission and pay deposit.
July 1, 2027
- Winter/Spring 2027 transcripts due
