ISU Dairy Farm
Fourth year students in the College of Veterinary Medicine participate in two-week rotations at the Iowa State University College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Dairy Farm.
The facility has 400 lactating animals from birth to the first lactation. The veterinary students are on an ambulatory rotation that offers them hands-on experience where they evaluate, diagnose and prescribe treatment.
On the ambulatory rotation, clinicians and veterinary students are at the ISU Dairy Farm 365 days a year with a focus on herd health and consultation. On a typical day, students will examine and treat sick animals while conducting 1000 physical examinations on a yearly basis.
