AMES, Iowa – Producers and veterinarians are often asked to provide science-based rationale for recommendations that they make in livestock production. Often they turn to research found in scientific papers and studies from which to base those recommendations. But if the studies aren’t written in a clear and transparent manner, veterinarians and producers can find it difficult to understand the implications and limitations of the studies.

AMES, Iowa -- Three highly respected scientists will be participating in the Ramsey Lecture Series at the Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine this spring. Their lectures will integrate concepts from basic science research to translational medicine as it relates to One Health – One Medicine. Lecture dates are February 24, March23 and April 5, 2010.

Yesterday KCCI-TV reporter Angie Hunt traveled to the Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center to interview Dr. Nyomi Galow-Kersh who is a certified veterinary acupuncturist. Angie watched while Talyn, an Iowa search-and-rescue dog, received an acupuncture treatment. Angie also talked to Talyn's owner Robin Habeger.

The Council comprises leaders and experts in the fields of veterinary science, food safety, public health, nutrition, education and research.
