Dr. Eric Rowe, associate professor of biomedical sciences, has been named the assistant dean for admissions and recruitment for Iowa State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine.
In this position, Rowe, an Iowa State faculty member since 2001, will have direct responsibility for DVM admissions and scholarships and will coordinate the optimization of recruitment of prospective students with the college’s recruitment team.
While at Iowa State, Rowe has been recognized with several awards including the Dr. William O. Reece Award for Outstanding Academic Advising, the SAVMA Teaching Excellence in Basic Sciences, and the College of Veterinary Medicine’s Award for Outstanding Achievement in Teaching.
Rowe has served on several college-wide committees at Iowa State including the College Admissions Committee, which he chaired from 2023-25. He was the faculty advisor for Iowa State’s Pre-Veterinary Club from 2013-18 during which time that organization hosted the National Pre-Veterinary Symposium and the Midwest Pre-Veterinary Symposium on campus.
Rowe earned his DVM in 1999 and a PhD in veterinary anatomy and neuroscience in 2005, both from Iowa State. Prior to joining the College of Veterinary Medicine faculty, he was an associate veterinarian in a North Carolina small animal practice and a North Dakota mixed animal practice.
