Summer Scholar Research Poster Winners Announced

The College of Veterinary Medicine held its annual Research Day event on Thursday, Sept. 17. The day’s events included a poster session with several individuals recognized.
The Summer Scholar Research Program introduces first- and second-year veterinary medicine students to research across the breadth of the profession. The resulting research was presented in the poster session by 21 students. Award recipients and their faculty members were:
- 1st place: Rueben Arellano, “In vivo Evaluation of Geraniol and Carvacrol as Treatments for Anthelmintic-Resistant Haemonchus contortus,” Dr. Katy Martin, veterinary pathology
- 2nd place: Owen McInnes, “Obesity-Induced Alterations in Thermoregulation, Semen Quality, and Fertility in Beef Bulls,” Dr. Barbara Loureiro, veterinary diagnostic and production animal medicine
- 3rd place: Keely Carrow, “Evaluation of Hospitalized Post Partum Mares for Evidence of Stress,” Dr. Jamie Kopper, veterinary clinical sciences
