CVM Research Week Expanded

Research Week in the College of Veterinary Medicine will be held Sept. 14-17 and feature a pair of keynote addresses.

Dr. Jennifer Heemstra, Charles Allen Thomas professor of chair of the Department of Chemistry at Washington University, will speak on “Learning Leadership Skills to Help Yourself and Others Thrive in Research.” The keynote address will be held Monday, Sept. 14, at noon in the Ramsey Classroom.

Thursday’s (Sept. 17) events will be held at the ISU Alumni Center. That day’s keynote will feature Dr. Sonja Swiger, professor and extension entomologist at Texas A&M University. Swiger will speak on “The “Re-Emergence of the New World Screwworm and its Potential Impact to the United States” beginning at 1 p.m.

Other activities on Thursday will include “Lightning Talks,” award presentations and a poster session beginning a 4 p.m.

Research Week will also include an open house for CVM research labs from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 16.
