The ISU VDL Enterprise Service is a new and additive service offering to ISU VDL’s core model for delivering diagnostic services.  It is designed for use in production systems, veterinary clinics, pharmaceutical companies, and other interested systems. This offering provides a proactive, customized diagnostic partnership that extends beyond individual case submissions.

Dedicated Enterprise Diagnostician

Expert consultation from a diagnostic pathologist who truly knows your system.

Your assigned diagnostician will:

  • Learn the unique structure of your enterprise (veterinarians, flows, locations, production details).
  • Routinely review your submissions, diagnostic trends, and case findings.
  • Serve as your primary point of contact for tailored diagnostic guidance.
  • Provide routine virtual or in-person consultations.

Enterprise Diagnostic Data Management & Bioinformatic Support

Turn your diagnostic data into actionable enterprise insights.

Data Management

Enterprise clients will have:

  • Epidemiological support for aggregated diagnostic data retrieval, analysis, and interpretation.
  • IT support for data curation, analysis, and general guidance.
  • Access to a powerful tool called LabVision (https://vdl.iastate.edu/labvision).
    • LabVision was designed to enable enterprise clients to view their ISU VDL diagnostic cases at a macro, aggregated level.

LabVision supports in providing customized:

  • Enterprise-level diagnostic data queries, summaries, and scheduled reports.
  • Dashboards tailored to your system.
  • Examples of dashboards includes:
    • Sick-animal and tissue-based investigation reports
    • Pathogen-specific testing summaries
    • Enterprise vs. aggregate benchmarking
    • Best submission practice and diagnostic expense trend reports

Bioinformatic Services

For systems prioritizing genomic, sequencing, or phylogenetic insights:

  • Advanced or custom bioinformatic analyses.
  • Pathogen-specific dendrogram maintenance.
  • Interpretation and consultative support with VDL bioinformaticians.

Note: The “Enterprise Level Diagnostician Support Service” is a new and additive service offering to ISU VDL’s core model for delivering diagnostic services. This new “enterprise-level service offering” falls outside the scope of how individual case submissions are managed at the laboratory.  The roles, responsibilities, and communication between the VDL Client and the VDL Case Coordinator responsible for managing case submissions to the laboratory remain unchanged and are not impacted by the VDL Client’s decision to utilize this new and additive enterprise-level service offering.
