The Iowa Legislature has approved an appropriation of $18 million for Phase 2 of the new Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory and the bill was signed by Gov. Kim Reynolds.
Earlier this year, Reynolds announced $40 million in funding for Phase 2 from funds directed to Iowa in the federal American Rescue Plan Act of 2021. Fundraising and internal funding will make up the rest of the proposed $66.5 million project.
The $75 million first phase of the VDL is nearing completion with an anticipated November occupancy slated.
The College of Veterinary Medicine also received a $21,000 increase in ILHAC funding and a $120,000 increase in VDL operational funding.
