During today's dedication of the Hixson-Lied Small Animal Hospital, a few special guests will participate in the Ceremonial Ribbon Crossing.
Leading the pack across the ribbon will be President Steven and Mrs. Janet Leath's dogs Dixie (lab/retriever mix) and Quill (lab), who will be escorted by fourth-year veterinary student Jon Tangen. They will be walked over the ribbon by President and Mrs. Leath.
Following them over the ribbon will be:
Rosie, a one-year old German Shepherd. Rosie lives with two dogs, and a cat. Her favorite activities include playing with her tug-toy and playing fetch with anyone who wants to join her. Rosie will be escorted by first-year veterinary student Tony Lisankis.
Chloe, an eight-year-old Weimaraner/Labrador Retriever mix. Chloe loves going for walks in the disk golf course, particularly when she is allowed off the leash to chase squirrels. She is a former blood donor for the ISU CVM for several years, but due to her graying chin has retired from civil service. Chloe lives with two dogs and two cats. Chloe will be escorted by fourth-year student Alejandro Larios.
Lars, a 10-month old Pembroke Welsh Corgi. Lars' favorite pastime is chasing a ball -- any ball — any time. A bundle of energy, Lars lives with four cats and a Greyhound. He will be escorted by second-year veterinary student LeAnne Wichman.
Senor Lopez, a two-year old Chihuahua. Sr. Lopez lives with two Jack Russell Terriers, ruling the roost with a furry paw. He aspires to be an English Mastiff in another life, and his favorite movie is "Underdog." Sr. Lopez will be escorted by Lauren Larsen, a third-year veterinary student.
The dedication ceremony starts at 4:30 p.m., at the Hixson-Lied Small Animal Hospital, Iowa State University.
