CVM Award for Early-Career Achievement in Research

Purpose: To recognize a CVM faculty member who has demonstrated outstanding accomplishments in research unusually early in his or her professional career.

Eligibility: Tenured or tenure-track faculty with a professional career since their Ph.D. (or other appropriate terminal degree) of less than 9 years and a minimum of two academic years of appointment as an ISU faculty member. Recipients must be ISU employees at the time of the CVM Awards Ceremony in late August.

Nature of the award: $500 one-time stipend, which will be paid to the award recipient in his/her paycheck.  Also, $5,000 from the Gray Faculty Fellowship Fund will be provided to the award recipient to be used for research expenditures from November 1, 2018 to October 31, 2019.

Number of awards: One.

Criteria: Documented evidence of exemplary research accomplishments. National and/or international recognition in the academic community. Evidence of a positive impact on his/her discipline. The candidates will be judged by the body of their work since their terminal degree.

Selection process: Nominated by department (chair or award selection committee) and selected by the CVM Research Advisory Committee. A nominating letter highlighting the candidate’s credentials and a full curriculum vita (CV) are required. All documents should be submitted to the CVM Office of Research and Graduate Studies (cvmres@iastate.edu) by the deadline.

Timeline: Nominations are due July 23, 2018. Awardee is selected in August and announced during the CVM convocation.

 

CVM Award for Mid-Career Achievement in Research

Purpose: To recognize CVM faculty members who have demonstrated outstanding accomplishments in research at the mid-career stage.

Eligibility: Tenured or tenure-track faculty with a professional career since their Ph.D. (or other appropriate terminal degree) of 9 to 16 years and at least three years of employment at ISU. Recipients must be ISU employees at the time of the College Awards Ceremony in late August. Distinguished professors and administrators are not eligible for this award.

Nature of the award: $500 one-time stipend, which will be paid to the award recipient in his/her paycheck.  Also, $5,000 from the Gray Faculty Fellowship Fund will be provided to the award recipient to be used for research expenditures from November 1, 2018 to October 31, 2019.

Number of awards: One.

Evidence of a positive impact on undergraduate students, professional students, graduate students, or postdoctoral associates. The candidates will be judged by the body of their work since their terminal degree.
