CVM Award for Early-Career Achievement in Research
Purpose: To recognize a CVM faculty member who has demonstrated outstanding accomplishments in research unusually early in his or her professional career.
Eligibility: Tenured or tenure-track faculty who have had independent academic careers of less than 6 years and a minimum of two academic years of appointment as an ISU faculty member. An independent academic career is defined as the start of a tenure track-track position. Recipients must be ISU employees at the time of the College Awards Ceremony in the fall.
Nature of the award: $500 one-time stipend, which will be paid to the award recipient in his/her paycheck. Also, $5,000 from the Lloyd Program Mid and Early-Career Research Award will be provided to the award recipient to be used for research expenditures from November 1 to October 31.
Number of awards: One.
Criteria: Documented evidence of exemplary research/creative accomplishments as evaluated by peers and experts in their field. National and/or international recognition in the academic community. Evidence of a positive impact of their research/creative activity on their discipline. The candidates will be judged by the body of their work produced since the start of their independent academic career.
Selection process: Nominated by department (chair or award selection committee) and selected by the CVM Research Advisory Committee. A nominating letter highlighting the candidate’s credentials and a full curriculum vita (CV) are required. CVM Award for Mid-Career Achievement in Research
Purpose: To recognize CVM faculty members who have demonstrated outstanding accomplishments in research at the mid-career stage.
Eligibility: Tenured or tenure-track faculty who have had independent academic careers of 6-13 years and at least three years of employment at ISU. An independent academic career is defined as the start of a tenure track-track position. Recipients must be ISU employees at the time of the College Awards Ceremony in late August. Distinguished professors and administrators are not eligible for this award.

Evidence of a positive impact of their mentorship and/or teaching on undergraduate students, graduate students, and/or postdoctoral associates. The candidates will be judged by the body of their work since the start of their independent academic career.
