Tutoring Services*

Veterinary students may use tutorial services available through the Office of Academic and Student Affairs at the College. Tutors are selected students who have successfully completed the courses for which they provide tutorial sessions through individual and/or small sessions. To arrange for a tutor, contact:

Assist with professional program questions, and provide guidance to resources for students who may be experiencing or having concerns in the College of Veterinary Medicine. Violation of Title IX or other federal, state, or local laws require OASA reporting to the appropriate units. Students also can directly contact the below resources. Notifying OASA as well is often helpful for a more rapid resolution of the issues.

ISU Student Legal Services
Funded entirely by the Government of the
Student Body, Student Legal Services (SLS)
is a legal aid office for students currently
enrolled at Iowa State University and registered Iowa State University student groups. It is staffed by two attorneys who advise and often represent students in a variety of cases and are available for consultation with respect to most
legal concerns.
ISU Counseling Service
Veterinary students have access to secure and confidential counseling services on site in the College of Veterinary Medicine. CVM students also have the option of attending counseling on central campus. To schedule an appointment, call 515-294-5056 and let them know that you are a Vet Med student or email lyoungs@iastate.edu.

Focus on connecting students to emotional support and advocacy assistance, as well as assisting students with class assignments or schedules, leaves of absence, withdrawal or other academic concerns, safety planning, and housing. The office can assist with complaints. The office staff can also assist the student in notifying ISU Police or local law enforcement if the student so requests.

Evaluate and approve accommodations (Notification Letters (NL)) and assist colleges in providing reasonable accommodations. Dr. Monica Howard is the CVM liaison and point of contact after NLs are approved for CVM approvals prior to student-instructor discussions.

Veterinary students, staff, faculty and
their immediate family (spouse, domestic
partner, children) can find support, information and a shared camaraderie at the Veterans Center on main campus.

Members of the University community who have received extensive discrimination and

information advisors on topics pertaining to discrimination and harassment and have general knowledge about
applicable laws, university policies and procedures.
This position is not a confidential reporting system and
violations of federal laws have to be reported

Financial Resources
Financial Counseling
Financial planning begins the day a student matriculates. Ms. Julia Gwebu, as a financial literacy advisor, provides seminars and individual guidance in financial planning. Topics include: Credit and Credit Scoring, Student Loan Repayment Options, Retirement, Investment and Job Benefits, etc. Ms. Gwebu offers individual financial planning afternoon appointments (Wednesdays 12-4pm), currently in OASA. Understanding and planning for financial aid is an important part of your financial portfolio. An advisor is available for afternoon appointments, currently Tuesdays (12-4pm) in OASA.
