Rotto Receives Science with Practice Award from ISU's College of Veterinary Medicine

Hans Rotto, DVM, received the Science with Practice Award from Iowa State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. The award, presented at the 20th Annual Swine Diseases Conference in Ames, Iowa, Nov. 8-9, recognizes exemplary integration of science and the art of veterinary practice to benefit swine productivity and welfare.

In presenting the award to Dr. Hill, Jim McKean, DVM, conference chair and ISU extension veterinarian said: "Dr. Hans Rotto is an excellent example of a young veterinarian who has expanded disease diagnostics and control practices into a holistic disease management model which assists clients in worldwide competiveness." 

Dr. Hans Rotto is a private swine production and veterinary consultant from Ames, Iowa. 

Over the past 16 years, he has worked as a swine production veterinarian with both company-owned and contract operations, to provide and coordinate all veterinary and animal health resources. During his career, Dr. Rotto has served as Director of Veterinary Services for both Land O'Lakes Swine Production Division and Christensen Family Farms Inc..He has also led the Commercial Sow Production Division of Christensen Family Farms and served on their Senior Management team.

Currently his private practice, Innovative Agriculture Solutions LLC, established in 2005 consists of two veterinary associates and one veterinary technician and provides veterinary health and production problem solving services to both integrated production systems and independent owners throughout the world.

A native of Minnesota, Dr. Rotto earned his doctorate of veterinary medicine (1996) and master's degree (1998) from Iowa State University.
