No typical day

Dr. Dan Bergerud (’81)
Every day is different,” Dan Bergerud told his hometown newspaper recently. “You never know until you unlock the door in the morning. We usually stay pretty busy from opening until closing, and afterwards sometimes.” When he graduated from Iowa State in 1981, a majority of Bergerud’s veterinary work was in large animals. Today, he estimates about 10% of his practice in Cass Veterinary Services in Illinois remains on cattle, swine, horses and goats. Still at the end of each day, Bergerud is glad of his career choice. “Sometimes I go home and say ‘oh, I could have done better, but on most days I have some really good cases and I really help some animals.”
