First the Nation, Now the World
In recent weeks, Dr. Hans Coetzee (PhD veterinary microbiology ’05) has been recognized both nationally and internationally. Coetzee, a former faculty member at Iowa State and now chair of the Department of Anatomy and Physiology at Kansas State University, has been recognized with the AVMA Animal Welfare Award for his accomplishments in the field of animal welfare. A few weeks later, he was named one of six recipients of the World Veterinary Association’s Global Animal Welfare Award presented to an outstanding veterinarian in each of the six regions of the World Veterinary Association for providing outstanding and exemplary welfare-related service to animal owners, hostels, fellow veterinarians and the public.
