Katharine Polak just returned from establishing a field clinic in Charlotte County, Florida, one of the hardest hit areas by Hurricane Ian. There she established a food distribution center and adjacent pop-up temporary veterinary clinic in a library parking lot so that those affected by the storm could access resources by keeping pets and people together. "So many people lost everything in the storm, and their animals were all they had left," Polak said. "Over the course of the week, we had 500-600 vehicles pulling through daily for pet supplies, and treated 881 patients."
