As a veterinarian, Larry Celmer felt confident about working with animals but felt unprepared in running a clinic or other practice. The cold realities of tackling tough business decisions became evident when he started a practice in California. When Celmer and his wife, Martha, returned to his hometown of Yankton, South Dakota, he rekindled his lifelong connection with Sacred Heart Monastery and served on the board of trustees of Mount Marty University. Recently the Celmers established an endowed business professorship at Mount Marty. "I hope every student has the opportunity to leave Mount Marty with some kind of business behind you so at least you can manage your personal affairs," Celmer said.
