Although both Alana McNutt Prickett and John Prickett come from veterinary families, they realize that the business climate their parents faced are a lot different than those they are facing at their clinics in Tipton and New Liberty, Iowa. "Mixed animal practice is a tough business model," John says. "The margins are much smaller than a specialty practice, the overhead is much higher because we must have facilities for multiple species and the diversity of equipment and drugs that we must carry can be daunting at times."
