Dr. Carrie Berg, associate teaching professor of biomedical sciences, has been named the 2024 recipient of the Zoetis Distinguished Veterinary Teacher Award in Iowa State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine.
A faculty member since 2013, Dr. Berg teaches both lecture and laboratory instruction in a variety of physiological disciplines across both the professional and graduate curricula in the College of Veterinary Medicine.
“I believe excellent teaching leads to optimal student learning and clinical application of histology and physiology,” Berg said. “To adequately prepare students for their future careers, I use clinical examples and empower students to always ask questions inside and outside of class to sharpen their life-long learning skills.”
Berg is a 2004 DVM graduate of the College of Veterinary Medicine and has previously taught at Grand View University in Des Moines. After graduation she worked in private veterinary practice in Arizona.
They have also received the Award for Outstanding Achievement in Teaching and the Dr. William O. Reece Award for Outstanding Academic Advising in the College of Veterinary Medicine.
Since 2018, Berg has served as a faculty advisor to CVM Spectrum and is a member of the CVM Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee.
