Dr. Bagley graduated from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 1986. He completed a small animal internship and small animal Internal Medicine residency at Cornell University and completed a second residency in Neurology and Neurosurgery at North Carolina State University. Dr. Bagley is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in both Neurology and Internal Medicine. Additionally, he is certified in canine rehabilitation (CCRP) and veterinary Acupuncture (CVA - Chi University). He is the author of over 200 scientific articles, abstracts and book chapters related to neurology, neurosurgery, and internal medicine and has presented over 300 scientific presentations including national meetings and internationally. He has authored 2 books: “Fundamentals of Veterinary Clinical Neurology” and “Practical Small Animal MRI.”
Dr. Bagley is past Chair of the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences at Iowa State University, College of Veterinary Medicine. During this time, he at various times served as Executive Director of the Lloyd Veterinary Teaching Hospital and as Associate Dean of Clinical Operations. He is a Professor of Rehabilitative and Clinical Neurology and coordinates and teaches in the professional courses on Veterinary Careers (VM 1 students), and Communication (VM 3 students), and clinical neurology (VM 3 and VM 4 students). He is the past Director of the American Association of Veterinary Medicine Colleges (AAVMC) Leadership Academy. In addition, Dr. Bagley is a certified trainer in Crucial Conversations™, Everything DiSC®, Mediation training by the Iowa Mediation Service, and TOP® facilitation methods. Dr. Bagley has provided numerous workshops on leadership and personal development topics including “Communication Strategies”, Dealing with “Conflict”, Strategic Thinking and Planning”, and “Visioning”, as well as one-on-one professional coaching.
