Exceptional Service

Dr. David Schmitt (’73) has been awarded the Outstanding Service Award by Iowa State’s Veterinary Medical Alumni Association. The award is given for “exceptional service to the VMAA and/or to the alumni of the College of Veterinary Medicine.”

Schmitt has served as the state veterinarian for the State of Iowa since 2008. Prior to that he practiced veterinary medicine in Stuart, Iowa from 1974-1999. He recently completed a term as president of USAHA.
