Dr. Michelle Jens Sprague, Audubon, Iowa, was honored with the 2010 Young Swine Veterinarian of the Year Award by the American Association of Swine Veterinarians. Dr. Sprague received the award on March 8 during the association’s annual meeting in Omaha, Neb. The award is given annually to an AASV member five or less years post-graduation who has demonstrated the ideals of exemplary service and proficiency early in his or her career.
Yesterday KCCI-TV reporter Angie Hunt traveled to the Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center to interview Dr. Nyomi Galow-Kersch who is a certified veterinary acupuncturist. Angie watched while Talyn, an Iowa search-and-rescue dog, received an acupuncture treatment. Angie also talked to Talyn's owner Robin Habeger.

Several Iowa State University veterinarians were recently honored during the annual meeting of the Conference of Research Workers in Animal Diseases (CRWAD) held in December in Chicago, Ill. Established in 1920, the CRWAD is the leading organization for the most current research advances in animal diseases. At its annual meetings, research scientists from around the world present and discuss the most recent advances on subjects of interest to the CRWAD and of importance to the global livestock and companion animal industries.
