ISU College of Veterinary Medicine Honors Outstanding Alumni
Dr. Ken Reimer (’65) was honored with the William P. Switzer Award in Veterinary Medicine on Aug. 14, at the College of Veterinary Medicine’s Research Day. The award, given annually, recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to society through their achievements, or have made major contributions to the enhancement of the College of Veterinary Medicine.
Ames, Iowa – Iowa State’s Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (VDL) is a critical component of Iowa’s frontline defense for infectious and emerging disease preparedness affecting animals and humans. A key role and day-to-day responsibility of the veterinary diagnosticians at Iowa State is closely monitoring the incidence of animal diseases, including those caused by swine influenza viruses (SIV).
Dr. Lorraine (Johnson) Hoffman retired from her position as Director of Operations at the Iowa State University Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory on April 1, 2009. She was professor of Veterinary Diagnostic and Production Animal Medicine and served as Section Leader in Bacteriology at the diagnostic laboratory from 1975-2006 at which time she was appointed to the position of Director.
